A Letter to All Parishioners “
Lord, I need your help even to see the needs of people around me, and
then know how to care for them. Give me a heart of compassion
like Yours and opportunities to express Your love.”
Over the past six years young adults from St. Peter and St. Paul parishes have been provided with an opportunity to express the teachings of our faith through the Group Workcamps Foundation. Only with your help can we hope to continue this work of community service and spiritual growth again this summer with thirteen young adults from both parishes, as we travel to North Kingstown, RI the week of June 29th - July 5th. We have already been given our work duties in repairing about 60 homes. There will be some 400 young adults working on these homes. Some of our duties will include the following: interior and exterior painting, building or repairing porches and wheelchair ramps, building or repairing steps, weatherization and other home repairs. We have actively begun our fundraising efforts. In years past, we have relied significantly on corporate sponsors for donations to help offset the camp costs and travel expenses. However, the number of corporate sponsors has dropped off somewhat, so we are looking to parishioners to make up some of the difference. Each camper must raise $459 for the week the spend in workcamp. This fee helps to purchase building materials, supplies, and to house the young people as we repair homes for the elderly, the handicapped and financially burdened. If you think you can afford to help in our effort, please make checks payable to your parish with the memo Group Work Camp and forward your donation to the church. If you give us your envelop number we can record this donation in our records for tax purposes. Thank you in advance for your support. Your gift today will transform the lives of hundred of people in need, as well as helping the young people who are meeting the needs. Please feel free to contact me, (Tom Gregoire), Fr. Dumont or Lorette Nault if you have any questions or would like additional information about the Group Workcamp Foundation.
