After “The Fire”
You may remember a few months back that we had
asked for your generous contributions toward helping a fire victim in
Deerfield. At that time we had collected $350.00. The family was very grateful. We recently received a short reflection from the Szelest family expressing their gratitude to all who helped them in any way. the working of the Holy Spirit as it has been manifested in their lives as a result of the recent events is evident. . There has been a lot of talk lately about the Holy Spirit. We want to share with you our personal experience with Him through each of you. These past weeks we have been searching our hearts, trying to put into words the gratefulness we feel for all you have done for us. It is hardly possible since words can be so limiting. On Feb. 22, as we watched our home go up in flames, we thought we were losing everything. Little did we know the gifts God had in store for us! As we experienced shock, grief, disorientation, you cam forward to comfort us and to provide for us. Within a very short time all of our needs were met! You gave us strength and you carried us forward. We learned how unimportant material things really are. They can all be replaced. What is truly important in life are the people we encounter. We learned that fire, flood, even death can never take away the people that we love. God’s Spirit is so powerful within each of us that even those who have passed on remain close to comfort us. What an incredible experience this has been, surrounded by your love and comfort! We have gained so much more than we have lost. Currently, all is well. Mark’s health (her son) has improved tremendously and he is back to work with no limitations. We have purchased a modular house similar to the house we had. It will be delivered in August. We should be able to move into it in September. In the meantime we have some foundation work to do. How blessed we are to live among you, God’s people! You each have a unique role in His glorious plan and you each hold a special place in our hearts. One never knows when, how nor through whom one will be touched. We have been touched by His Spirit through you! God Bless You, Jan, Debbie & Mark If everyone were as aware of the working of God’s Spirit in their lives as the people in this family we would have a church on fire with love for God. Perhaps this is a beginning. Let’s remain open to the possibility. Lorette P. Nault |
