Parish office hours
    Our parish office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Pastoral Associate is in most afternoons until 4:00 PM.  If you need to come in the PM please give us a call to make sure someone is here. Messages can always be left on the answering machine. 

Are you registered?
     Are you new to our parish?   If you are, please pick up a registration form in the vestibule of the church. Registration is very important.  Just drop it in the basket or mail it to our office.  Thanks!  We are always happy to receive new parishioners.  We welcome you and pray you will be happy here with us.

Please use church envelopes 
    Envelope users provide the bedrock of our financial support.  Please consider using them.  New packets of envelopes are mailed every three months. If you would like to receive some but you are not yet on the mailing list, please call Jeannine to give her your name and address. Thank you!

Christian Formation News

All children from k – 10 must register for Religious Education each year.  The registration does not roll over from one year to the next.  We will be mailing a registration form through e-mail in the near future.  If you have not received a form by mid-August it is because we do not have your e-mail address or perhaps you are not yet registered in the parish so we do not have any pertinent information related to you family.  You can call the office between Monday –Thursday at 483-8481 to update your e-mail info or you can pick up a registration in the entrance of the church. Grades K- 3  The children in grades K – 3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies.  We use a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week.  Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly. However beginning with grade 1, students must attend classes on a weekly basis during the Mass, as the program for 1st Communion is a two year program.  The program for the school year 2009-2010 will begin on the weekend of September 19th and 20th.  Classes are held during both weekend Masses. We would need some volunteers to help out as monitors during the classes.  Please contact the office if you can do this. Grades 4 – 10 +, Generation of Faith     This program is designed for both parents and children.  Parents who have children in grades  4 - 10 are asked to attend these monthly sessions. The adult session gives them an opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of the faith as well as giving them the chance to share with other adults on pertinent issues of faith.  All GoF classes are held on Sundays from 4 – 6 pm.  Our next class will be held on November 15th. Confirmation Program:      The Confirmation students will begin their two year program on Sunday, September 27, 2009.  All students must be registered by September 27th.  Second year students must have completed year one in full, i.e., two classes per month from September through April.  Attendance at Generation of Faith only does not satisfy the requirements for Confirmation.  All students are also asked to attend Mass on a weekly basis.  There are registration forms in the entrance of the church.                      Schedule of Classes

Gospel: John:18: 33-37(Christ’s Kingship)

Question for Adults:  What changes in attitude do I need to make to follow Jesus’ idea of kingship? The operative word in this question is obviously Jesus’ idea.  It no doubt stands to reason that Jesus’ notion of kingship is very different from ours.  We have a very political perspective with all the pomp and circumstance.  If we want to truly see Jesus’ notion of the same word we would probably benefit from standing it on its head.  How can we possible envision a kingdom not of this world yet real, i.e., not simply a legend or a myth or worse, something simply made up in our own minds. The kingdom truly exists but how does it exists?  Would we recognize it is we saw it?  As we prepare for thanksgiving this week, why not take a few minutes to reflect on our attitude toward this kingdom.  Then, we would really have something marvelous to give thanks for.

Question for Children:  What can I do each day this week to serve others?  What a great question to present to our children as we prepare to celebrate our day of Thanksgiving.  This would be an excellent way to prepare for this holiday.  When we think of all that has been given to us, why not share this bounty by thinking of others?  This would really bring home the idea that we have something great for which to give thanks

From the Pastor: The November 8th bulletin included some background information on the unification process initiated for St. Peter and St. Paul Parishes.  You can find a copy of the bulletin on-line at the parish website.  Here is the list of steps that must take place:

Tuesday, November 17, - Meeting of the Pastoral 
      Council of St. Peter Parish 6:30 pm

       members of both parishes at St. Paul Church,
       Candia at 1:00 pm.
Monday, November 30 – Meeting of the Pastoral
       councils of both parishes at St. Peter Parish Hall
at 7:00 pm.

    During the process, we will endeavor to work together, pray together, support each other, listen to one another and make every effort to discern the will of God and the continuation of the spread of the Gospel in our area. 

Reminder:  The flu Season and the Celebration of Mass:   At The recommendation of the NH DHHS, the following precautions will remain in effect through cold and flu season: 
l. If you are ill, please stay home and refrain from attendance at church celebrations.
2. The sign of Pace should be shared without teaching hands or kissing.  This can be done with meaningful eye contact, smiles, and a bow of the head in reverence to one another.
3. Parishioners should receive Holy Communion in their hands, and not on their tongue.  Parishioners who receive Holy Communion on the tongue by necessity (i.e., because of a disability) should receive at the end of the Communion line.
4. The Precious Blook:  Communion is only to be given in the species of the consecrated host.  If you are unable to receive Holy Communion in the species of the consecrated bread because of Celiac Disease, please see the pastor.

Our Food Pantry is in desperate need of food.  We need almost anything but especially instant Rice,  Tuna, Vegetables,  canned fruit, and cereal.  We’re Okay on soup for now.  Thank you so much for your generosity

Cath.Campaign for Human Development
    Right now, many American families are struggling to make ends meet.  As people are laid off, lose homes, insurance, and watch their retirement funds disappear, it may be difficult to think of others in need.  However, financial struggles have become even harder for the 37 million Americans who have been living in poverty.
    For nearly 40 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Dev. (CCHD) has offered a solution to poverty by funding low-income community groups all over the US that find lasting solutions to the root causes of poverty.  CCHD supports the poor and low-income in acquiring affordable housing, fair wages, access to healthcare, and vocational training.  The leaders of CCHD-funded groups are low-income community members who want to change their situation for lifetime. 
    Our support of CCHD is vital to solving poverty to the US.  Please pray for those affected by the weak economy, those whose struggles are magnified by it, and those who are working to create solutions to it.  For more information please visit http://www.usccb.org/nationalcollections. 

A Look at Upcoming Events

Important Notice to All Parishioners:
    On Sunday, November 22, 2009 there will be an important informational meeting for all parishioners of the parish.  Parishioners of St. Peter Parish are also invited.  The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm.  Please mark your calendars.  

Don’t Be Alone This Thanksgiving!
    Come and share in a community Thanksgiving dinner!  All are welcome!  The Blessed Sacrament Parish invites you to rekindle the community spirit of thanksgiving.  If you are alone or if your family wants to be with other people, come join us.  The meal is Free for everyone.  This will take place on Thursday, November 26, from 12 noon to 2 pm.  Please RSVP by November 24th to Blessed Sacrament church at 622-5445.  The parish is located at the corner of Elm St. and Queen City Avenue. 
There is plenty of parking behind the church.

The Parish of the Transfiguration
is hosting a special and informative Advent evening of song, which reflects on the theology of the lyrics in Christmas carols.  We’d like to invite all parishioners of the surrounding area to join us.  The event entitled “Do You Hear What I Hear?” will take place on Sunday evening December 6, 2009 at 6:30 pm in the church on Kelley St. in Manchester.
