News and Sharings on Catholic Theology of Energies

May the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole evangelical Marian and Eucharistic Family of Holy Angels and Saints continue to guide and bless this theology!

As a Catholic theology seeking to synthesize the sacred traditions of Eastern and Western Christianity (Theology Today 99) in the process of theosis or divinization, Catholic Theology of Energy (or Energies) is called to help brothers and sisters in Christ to discover, activate, and partake of God's omnipresent Divine Energy or divine nature as "partakers of divine nature" (2Pet 1:4), via the Word, prayers, virtues and good works in and through the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of Christian life (Lumen Gentium 11), of all preaching of the Gospel (Presbyterorum Ordinis 5), and of all theology (Theology Today 94).  (Nov. 19, 2017)

--- May 1 ---

   (1) Today is the first day of the month of Mary, Our Dearest Heavenly Mother, as well as the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker. One may ask: Why do we need the intercession of a Saint in Heaven? Can't we just approach God directly as many non-Catholic Christians do?

      Among others, perhaps one reasonable answer is that a Saint in Heaven is abundantly overflowing with God's very grace (Divine Light, Nature or Energy) and is able to practice perfectly what St. Paul says: "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." (Gal 2:20) In other words, it is no longer a Saint who lives as he/she is, but it is God who is living fully, happily and proudly in and through him/her. Thus, a Heavenly Saint is just another God-pleasing face or representative of God. Whenever a certain Saint intercedes, it is that Saint together with God who intercedes inseparably as an incredibly powerful team of intercession.

     Hence, it has been the collective wisdom of the Church for the last two thousand years to encourage us to approach a Saint in Heaven for any kind of help, in particular regarding our personal relationship with God. Oftentimes, it becomes impossible or very hard for God to say no, partially or completely, to the intercession of such a God-pleasing representative. After all, Heaven is a truly big happy and beloved Family infinitely filled with God's perfect love for one another, as well as for the rest of Christ's Mystical Body living on earth and in Purgatory.

      Initiated by the Vatican, today is also the first day of the month-long Holy Rosary marathon to end the Corvid-19 pandemic which has de0vastated many countries around the world.

      Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (May 1)

  (2) Today is Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, in particular to Our Dearest Heavenly Mother! Vis-a-vis *this month of Mary, one may say that there are in general three ways of praying *the Holy Rosary:

       (A) Concentrating on the meditation on the very contents of a certain mystery, while praying the repetitive prayers as the melody background, as a priest suggests;

       (B) Concentrating on praying the repetitive prayers, while taking the contents of a certain mystery as the background, as many Catholics tend to;

       (C) Integrating (A) and (B) above, i.e., mixing the meditation of a certain mystery and praying the repetitive prayers at the same time, e.g.,  on a certain mystery, concentrate on praying the Our Father and Glory Be and only one or two Hail Marys, and meditating the mystery while praying the eight or nine usual Hail Marys as the melody background.

        Here is a tested suggestion of praying repetitive prayers which is still open for further improvements. Noticeably, this suggestion is only for private personal use. To use it in the church publicly, this suggestion has to be formally approved by the parish priest or a local bishop.

        *Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!

       Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (May 9, *May 13)

--- April 1 ---

   (1) Today is the Holy Thursday, the beginning of the three-day Paschal Triuum. Apparently, Holy Thursday is the holiest and most memorable day for celebrating and receiving the Blessed Sacrament for both priests and laity. One may ask: What can the tiny little Consecrated Host or Blessed Sacrament really do for all created beings?

         To begin with, we may say that the whole Process of Salvation consists of three major stages:

         (I) The eternal existence of God the Infinite Uncreated Esse/Existence (understood in terms of St. Thomas Aquinas' description of God as Ipsum Esse Subsistens, i.e., the ever eternally and omni-presently present Subsisting Existence Itself);

         (II) The temporal finite created esse/existence (in which all finite created existents/beings are created for God's purpose of divinization in this Process of Divine Connaturalization);

         (III) The everlasting union in Heaven between God the Infinite Uncreated Esse and the finite created existents/beings who are completed divinized/sanctified by God.

         Being fully the Infinite Uncreated God ceaselessly and transcosmically radiating His Infinite Uncreated Light or Energy to divinize the whole created existence and all the finite beings (except for those who have consciously refused to cooperate with the Creator and His divine nature), Christ in His infinite self-emptying dwells fully in each tiny little Consecrated Host as the Real Immanuel in the so-called Real Presence of Christ taught unmistakably by the Catholic Church. This a great Mystery which all the Holy Angels and Saints are trembling as they gaze.

         *To be perfectly sure, an un-consecrated host remains just a small insignificant piece of bread. However, after genuine consecrated by an ordained priest, with the inextricable supremacy of the Real Presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Col 1:15-20) truly present within, the Consecrated Host has instantly become not only the very Living Centre of a believer and his/her whole life, but also very much the very Living Centre of the whole Catholic Church, the very Living Centre of all Christianity and all religions, the very Living Centre of each human person, the very Living Centre of the whole human family, as well as the very Living Centre of the whole universe, the very Living Centre of all creation, and indeed the very Living Centre of the whole Process of Creation or Salvation of all created existence. Apparently, if the Lord Jesus does not hide and reduce His infinite unthinkable radiant power to our current level of human weakness and limitations, nobody can see Christ's Real Presence as it is and live! At the same time, no Holy Mass and Holy Communion can take place at all!.

         Therefore, in honor of Christ's Real Presence, as well as to do reparation for all the sacrileges against the Blessed Sacrament, it is our awesome duty to learn from and join in with the all Holy Angels and Saints (even with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength) in gazing, appreciating, thanking, *loving and adoring Christ who, in His Real Presence, is perichoretically one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We may even say it is also our noble responsibility to represent all the unfortunate brothers and sisters, who have not yet been blessed that way, to do so.

         Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (April 1, *updated April 2)

  (2) Today is Good Friday on which all Christians are commemorating the excruciating sufferings and crucifixion of Jesus on the Cross as well as His heroic death at Calvary.

        One may ask: "Why do we need Christ as the expiation of our sins against God?" Besides countless important Biblical explanations, perhaps we can also borrow an expression (taken out of context) from the Confucian Analects, i.e.,獲罪於天無可禱也!”which may be translated as "Since Heaven/God is offended, no prayer can be said at all for expiation!" Through it all, it only shows the infinite unbridgeable distance between the infinitely holy, immense majestic nature of God and the true nature of creatures after sinning being the infinitely finite sinful specks of dusts filled with sinful energies. Hence, ultimately speaking, it is only Christ the Son of God, being fully God and fully man, who can become the Living Mediator and Atonement for our sins offending God the Infinitely High.

       As a gentle reminder, countless Christians start praying the Novena to Christ's Divine Mercy today.

       Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity for the infinite mercy and love, as well as to the intercession of the whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (April 2)

  (3) *Happy Easter! *Jesus is risen today, once and for all eternity! Today is Resurrection Sunday! Alleluia! Alleluia! Indeed, the irreversible Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, has irreversible proved not only that (1) Jesus Christ, the only Uncreated Son of God, is forever God Himself, (II) that the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is unmistakably authentic for all eternity; (III) that Christ the Lord is the everlasting unshakable Foundation of Christianity, but also the following truths at the least:

      (IV) that Jesus Christ as God Himself has become human, so that all human beings can partake of His infinite Divinity, Divine Nature or Divine Light/Energy, and thus we can become more and more divine, until its perfection forever in Heaven;

      (V) that Christ has taken on and solved all the difficult problems related to all our sinful energies, suffering energies, sick energies, fearful energies, painful energies, doubting energies, depressing energies, imperfect energies, etc., so much so that His Sacred Humanity has been suffocated and died a horrible shameful death. However, Christ's all-powerful, all-present, all-knowing, all-holy, all-reassuring, etc., Divinity which is substantially one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, has easily and gloriously resurrected His Humanity forever;

     (VI) that Christ, the Resurrection God-Man has once and for all conquered Satan, all the evil spirits, all their diabolic sinful energies, as well as all the human sinful energies;

     (VII) that the Resurrected Christ being the Resurrected Way, Truth, and Life to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit has become the sure Way, the sure Truth, and the sure Life for the divinization of all creation;

    (VIII) that, as St. Thomas Aquinas and the Catholic Church have been teaching, exactly the same Resurrected Christ is now staying both in Heaven and in the Blessed Sacrament;

    (IX) that, in spite of all the difficulties and hardships in life, our faith, hope, and love in life should be unshakably grounded upon the omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, all merciful, and all-loving Resurrected Christ, the Divinizing Foundation of all creation and salvation;

     (X) that during the presently uncontrollable pandemic, which does not seem to be going away smoothly despite all the best human wisdom, organized effort, and advanced sciences, it is unspeakably important for us (*after doing our best) to learn again and again from the Saints who have faithfully followed the way, the truth, and the life of the Resurrected Christ.

        For example, St. Teresa of Avila of Jesus resoundingly consoles us saying:

     "Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things are passing away. God never changes. Patience obtains all
       t
hings. Whoever has God lacks nothing. God alone suffices."

Likewise, St. Theresa of Lisieux of the Child Jesus, in her unconditional trust in the Resurrected Jesus, notably says:

    "For a long time, I have no longer belonged to myself. I have delivered myself completely to Jesus. He may do with me
      what He pleases. Oh! How sweet it is to abandon oneself in the arms of the good Lord, without fears or desires!" (Rev.
      Francois Jamart, O.C.D., translated by Rev. Walter V. De Putte, C.S.Sp., Complete Doctrine of St. Theresa of Lisieux.

New York: Alba House, 1961, p. 129)

       Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Resurrected Jesus and Most Holy Trinity for all the infinite mercy and love, as well as to the intercession of the whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! Totus Tuus, JMJ! (April 4, *updated April 7)

   (4) This is very good news. Rev. Prof. Simon Wong, S.J., currently teaching theology at Holy Spirit College in Hong Kong, will be writing a preface for Introduction to the Research Methodology of Catholic Theology of Qis. During the spring of 2013, when this book was still in its planning stage, the author was auditing the excellent Lonergan course being taught by Fr. Wong at the Fu Jen School of Theology. Most likely, this preface will be completed by Sept. 1 this year, as Fr. Wong is quite busy doing teaching and other ministries.

        By the way, Rev. Prof. Paul Wang teaching theology at the National Seminary of China in Beijing is still recovering from his long-term sickness. Please remember Rev. Wang in your prayers.

        Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Resurrected Jesus and Most Holy Trinity, as well as to the intercession of the whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! Totus Tuus, JMJ!  (April 8)

    (5) Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. To be sure, the Litany of God's Divine Mercy, upon closer examination, has revealed to us a lot about God's divine nature or Divine Energy. Accordingly, God's Divine Energy has innumerable names or descriptions (cf. Vladimir's Lossky, The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church. Crestwood, NY: St. Vladimir's Seminary Press, 1976, p. 80).

      As all Christians are well aware of, now is the period of time for God's Divine Mercy, before the Final Judgment of God's divine justice which each human being without exception has to face and become totally accountable for every single detail of his/life. At the same time, since this Final Judge and Lord of all the living and the dead is now fully alive not only in Heaven, but also in the Consecrated Host, the following quotation is amazingly important to both Catholics and non-Catholics alike, as we read from In Sinu Jesu by a Benedictine monk (Kettering, Ohio: Angelico Press, 2017, p. 159) in which Jesus says:

       "Today My divine mercy flows like a river, rushing into the souls of those who will receive it. By placing yourself before My
         Eucharistic Face, you open your soul to the abundant streams of divine mercy that ever gush from My wounded side."

       Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! Totus Tuus, the Most Holy Family of JMJ! (April 11)

  (6) In view of the fact that God is Light radiating ceaselessly His Divine Light or Divine Energy unto *all creation, several of the 35 truthful praises of Litany of God's Divine Mercy can be described as follows:

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  gushing forth from the bosom of the Father, I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  fount gushing forth from the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  encompassing the whole universe,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  fount gushing forth from the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy, accompany us every moment of our life,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  shielding us from the fire of hell,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy, lifting us out of every misery,  I trust in You.

         God's Divine Merciful Light/Energy,  inspiring hope against all hope,  I trust in You.

         Etc.

         Recommended by the Lord Jesus as well as countless saintly priests and nuns, etc., that is why the Divine Mercy Chaplet as well as the Litany of God's Divine Mercy are two of the most awesome and powerful prayers to be prayed frequently, in view of what is going on today regarding the worldwide pandemic which does not seem to want to disappear smoothly. In fact, in many quarters of the world, the situation is getting worse each day, despite the best human wisdom, organized efforts, and advanced sciences. Indeed, our prayerful efforts together can surely make a big difference.

         Alleluia! (April 18, *updated April 24)

  (7) Today is Vocation Sunday. To be sure, the most important thing to do during the present Process of Salvation or Divinization is, to begin with, the sufficient daily partaking of God's Divine Nature or Divine Energy which may be expressed among others as the nine-fold fruit of the Holy Spirit, i.e., love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. Apparently, such fruits of the Holy Spirit are to be obtained by daily sufficient prayers, reflection, repentance, good works for others, meditating on the Holy Bible, participation in the Holy Mass, Sacrament(s) and Holy Hour, as well as praying the Holy Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, etc.

     In this way, we would find it a lot easier or without problem to follow God's Ten Commandments happily, as well as to discern our vocation (whatever that is) clearly, and to do it faithfully.

    Alleluia! (April 25)

--- March 1 ---

  (1) Today is the first day of the month of St. Joseph. Well known among others as the universal Terror of Demons, St. Joseph the Head of the Holy Family as well as the Patron of the Universal Church is without doubt quite significant in the present increasing trend of Satanism in the American culture.

        Indeed, due to the very omnipresence of God who is Light and is All in all, each spiritual being, resembling the glorious Jesus in His transfiguration, is created and called to be a transradiant carrier and radiator of God's Divine Light or Energy for the incredible blessing of others. As Heaven is infinitely permeated with God's Light or Energy, each of us has a prayerful duty to make this world more and more heavenly, until its perfection in Heaven. However, it is sinful energies which effectively dissipate and eventually cut off our personal and social connections with the all-present God and His Divine Light of Energy.

       For example, Satan known also as Lucifer (whose name means carrier of 'lux, Latin form of light') used to be carrying God's Light or Energy. Yet, after having rebelled irreversibly against God, Lucifer is now irrevocably the carrier and radiator of the diabolic light or energy, seeking to permeate the whole humanity and all the cultures with his sinful God-displeasing diabolic energy. Here are four excellent sermons, one on Satan, one on the God-pleasing way, one on a touching story of life and one on a *great missionary.

       Hence, it is immensely important for us to be fully connected with the right channels of God for our daily defense and sanctification, e.g., being prayerfully connected with the Holy Spirit, our personal Guardian Angel, the Holy Bible, the Holy Sacraments of the Church, the Holy Hour of Eucharistic adoration, the Holy Rosary, and the Holy Family of the Lord Jesus, Mother Miary and St. Joseph. Apparently, since no one on earth is perfectly holy in the eyes of God, Lent is the annual period for us to return more and more to God through our God-pleasing prayerful reflection, repentance, reparation, and reconnection, until its perfection in Heaven.

       Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (March 1,*updated March 18)

  (2) Today is the solemnity of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, during the current year of St. Joseph. *Here is a wonderful talk on the Consecration to St. Joseph by Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, as we are currently facing two kinds of "reset", one is emerging from the secular world, and one is coming from the Most Holy Family representing the Most Holy Trinity.

        Here is a beautiful and powerful Litany of St. Joseph, the universal Terror of Demons. In view of the fact that the whole world is constantly under the negative, God-displeasing influences of the diabolic power or energy of the evil one, St. Joseph the powerful Protector of the Church and of each individual can make an awesome difference.

       Apparently, "Totus tuus, JMJ!" or "All yours, JMJ!" or "All yours, Jesus, Mary, Joseph!" is quite a magnificent prayer which one can repeat many times each day. Indeed, one may say that the whole Process of Salvation is a process of Familization in which each human being is called to become forever a beloved child of God directly and indirectly through the Holy Family of JMJ. Without doubt, Our Heavenly Mother, Our Lord Jesus and St. Joseph are inseparable, forever and ever!

       Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (March 19)

  (3) Here is a description of Heaven filled immensely with God's Lights or Divine Energies by Maria Valtorta, a mystics recognized by many prayerful Catholics. In this vision, St. Joseph is also there with Our Lord Jesus, Mother Mary and all the Holy Angels and Saints.

      At the same time, a description of Hell filled with diabolic flames or energies, as well as a description of Purgatory filled with the purifying Flames, loving Lights or perfecting Energies of God have been given by Maria.

      Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all!  (March 24)

                                                                 *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *   *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

  (4) Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the beginning of the awesome Mystery of the Incarnation, which may be expressed succinctly through the Angelus Prayer. "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and glory." (Jn 1:14) Indeed, from the fullness of Christ's very inextricable presence among us, have we all received, grace upon grace, i.e., God's Divine Energy upon God's Divine Energy (cf. Jn 1:16). Therefore, may all praise and thanks be given to God the Most Holy Trinity, as well as to the Holy Angels, Christ's Holy Mother and His foster father St. Joseph, no unexpected pregnancy was aborted. Otherwise, all creation would have been in deep trouble.

      As we know, it is through Christ, the First Born of Creation, that all things visible and invisible in creation have been created (cf. Col 1:15). As the Holy Bible further reveals to us: "For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Christ, and through Christ to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in Heaven, by making peace through His blood shed on the cross." (Col 1:19-20) Indeed, the only exceptions are those living beings who have consciously decided not to reconcile themselves with God the Most Holy Trinity *
on important matters according to the Divine Ten Commandments, casting themselves therefore forever into Hell.

     Thus, we have to pray daily for the conversion of hardened sinners, praise and thanks be to God and Our Heavenly Mother for the following prayer taught to us at Fatima: “Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, and help especially those most in need of your mercy.” Notably, St. Joseph also appeared at Fatima.

     Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! *Totus Tuus, JMJ! (March 25, *updated March 30)

                                                              *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *   *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

  (5) Today is the Palm Sunday, the beginning of the Holy Week. One may ask, what does God our Creator really want from each of us, now and in the future? To begin with, as we know, the whole Process of Creation of all human beings which became later *also the Process of Salvation (due to the original sin) is a Process of Divinization in which each human person without exception is called by God to partake of His divine nature or Divine Energy, more and more, until its perfection in Heaven (cf. 2Pet 1:3-4).

      Simultaneously, this Process of Divinization is also a Process of Divine Connaturalization, i.e., to have the same divine nature as God's very nature which is infinitely holy and happy, infinitely filled with God's everlasting light, love and life. Indeed, unless an individual person's post-original-sin sinful nature is properly divinized, transformed or sanctified to be connatural as God's sinless holy nature, he/she cannot really partake of God's divine nature and become truly happy, constantly filled with God's light, love and life, despite all the unavoidable chaos, difficulties, trials and sufferings in life, now and in the future.

     In other words, in spite of all the ups and downs in life, the only way for our human life to be truly happy, fulfilled and satisfied, now and in the future, is to be become as sinless and holy as God. Thus, the present Holy Week as well as the time given to us later by God is a wonderful opportunity to learn to partake of God's divine nature or Divine Energy, until its perfection in Heaven, e.g., by means of sufficient daily prayers, yearly retreat, regular reflection, repentance, fasting, charitable acts, Confession, the Holy Eucharist, Holy Bible, Holy Hour, Holy Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, etc.

     Alleluia! (March 28, *updated March 30)

  (2) Today is the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in which the Lord Jesus was presented to God in a temple of God by Mother Mary and St. Joseph. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own." (1Cor 6:19) Therefore, with deep respect to each individual human person being created as an incredible dream temple or dream home for God to live in forever, we may say that the whole Process of Salvation and the Holy Family are relationally inseparable.

      Succinctly put, with the most loving assistance of Our Heavenly Mother and St. Joseph Head of the Holy Family, our Salvation Process a process in which Our Lord Jesus Christ, with Whom God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are united as one God without ceasing, is being continuously, graciously and evangelically presented to each human person for the Most Holy Trinity to dwell within for all eternity, until its perfection in Heaven. Apparently, all the Sacraments and prayers, especially Confession, the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hour, Holy Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, and Consecration to St. Joseph (at least during the present Year of St. Joseph) have been divinely initiated to reach this very dream of God the Creator.

     Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!  St. Joseph, Head of the Holy Family and Patron of the Universal Church, please intercede for us all together with the Holy Mother of God! Apparently, St. Blaise may be an important intercessor during the present pandemic in which the Corvid-19 virus tends to first attack the throats and then the lungs. It appears that it is helpful to rinse our throats with warm salt water against usual coughing, etc. Since the pandemic started a year ago, the author has been advised to rinse his throat three times daily with warm salt water as a vital preventive care. To be sure, he is not a medical expert at all on the pandemic, salt water and sore throat. Please prudently check with a family doctor. In any case, St. Blaise, pray for us all!

       Alleluia! (4) Please pray for the quick recovery of Rev. Prof. Paul Wang who has been on a sick leave from teaching in a major Catholic seminary in China. Fr. Wang has agreed to write the second preface for a book about to be completed on the research methodology of Chinese Catholic Theology of Qis. *Awaiting his recovery, it may take more than two months for this work to be completed finished. There is no hurry at all.

       By the way, the sermon given yesterday by a priest during the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass regarding the wisdom of God given to Archbishop Fulton Sheen on the time of peace, as well as suffering like that of the present pandemic, is worth listening to.

  (5) Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

       Recently, the author who is responsible for the present website has been gently reminded about the tone of language expressed in the Quarterly Spiritual Sharings for Jan., Feb., and March 2021 which may have been offensive to some dear visitors, in particular sisters in Christ. For this reason, the person who wrote the sharing has been notified. Thus, on behalf of this person, the author would like to express our apology to any person who is offended in some way. Consequently, with the permission of this person, some parts of this sharing have been deleted. In any case, please do not be overly sensitive, for this person was not talking about anyone. It was just the North-American way of free expression by this good Christian. Thank you for understanding.

      Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints! (Feb. 9)

  (6) Today is *the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Accordingly, the main message of Our Heavenly Mother is that God is love and God loves us as we are. Apparently, another vital message for us today during the present long lockdown-retreat is about the infinite everlasting happiness in Heaven as well as the immense importance and privilege of suffering on earth.

      As we know: "Never in good health, St. Bernadette suffered greatly, and with silent good nature, in the final years of her life. She held fast to Our Lady’s promise that she wasn’t promised 'happiness in this world, but in the next'.” As reaffirmed by St. Faustina, especially the exemplar life of the Lord Jesus on earth, God is in great need of both our redemptive prayers and redemptive sufferings for the salvation of the world. Coherently, St. John Paul II added: "Don't waste your suffering!" In other words, we are advised to offer all our daily sufferings redemptively to God for His divine purpose for the everlasting salvation of others.

      Further, there is a popular saying: "Time flies, and eternity is only a split second away." Therefore, the Holy Bible is so right in teaching us: "Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on God while He is near." (Isa 55:6) Otherwise, as St. Bernadette and St. Faustina would say, one may have to spend the rest of eternity without God, i.e.,  in the ceaseless company of all the *sinful energies, evil spirits and souls completely *cut off from Heaven in Hell.

      Alleluia! (7) Happy Chinese New Year! Today is the first day of the new lunar year. May God continue to bless us all with His omnipresent Uncreated Divine Energies or Uncreated Divine Qis!

      As a resolution for both the Chinese New Year and Western New Year for this column, the author has decided to make some adjustment to the title of the present column. As seen above, the column is now entitled "News and Sharings of Catholic Theology of Energies" which was "News Update of Catholic Theology of Energy" before.

      Obviously, there are several blessings with this new or renewed title. First, it will provide room for the sharings which the author may desire to share with the visitors, besides the news on Catholic Theology of Energies. Second, since the present Catholic Theology of Energies talks about various energies beyond God's Divine Energy, i.e., ordinary human energy, Angelic Energy, saintly human energy, sinful human energy, diabolic energy, etc. Thus, it is only more relevant to call this Theology as Theology of Energies which is faithful to the traditional Catholic teaching of the Church. Third, since there are so few websites in this world talking about Catholic Theology of Energies or Qis, such a renewed title would encourage the author to do his sharings more freely without any hesitation.

      Hopefully, such a new title would help to fulfill a little bite more the evangelical purpose of the Holy Spirit. It is true that the author is now in his semi-retirement and does not have to write many times a month. However, whenever he writes in this column, it is better for him to follow such a rule. Therefore, beginning today, each news and sharing should mention at least once some kind of "energy or qi." Thank you.

      Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!  May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! (Feb. 12)

  (8) Today is Ash Wednesday. It is a significant day to begin our annual deeper reflection, repentance, reparation and return to the Lord Our God, until the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.

       On the whole, one may say that, having been initiated by God, the whole Process of Savation for each human being is a process of progressive continuous reflection, reawakening, repentance, reparation and return to the Lord, until its perfection in Heaven. Amid this gracious cooperation with God, we will allow God to freely remove more and more any presence of God-displeasing energies (e.g., sinful human energies, diabolic energies) from our very being. At the same time, we will freely let the divinizing presence of God-pleasing energies (e.g., God's Divine Energies, Angelic Energies, Energies of Saints, and saintly human energies) shine through us increasingly until its glorious heavenly perfection.

     Just as countless invisible neutrinos are all-permeating, passing ceaselessly through all of us undetected, both God-pleasing and God-displeasing energies tend to behave in a similar way, normally undetectably so, unless we have been blessed prayerfully by God with a true mystical gift of sensitivity. Further, to defend ourselves from the permeation of sinful God-displeasing energies, one has to be strong in the Lord and pray accordingly. Notably, diabolic energies are expressed Biblically among others in terms of "the flaming arrows of the evil one" (Eph 6:16). If St. Paul were alive today, he might use the Star Wars language and think of the diabolic radiating and penetrating energies or powers as "the sinful soul-liar-and-killer laser beams of the devil". That may explain to a significant extent why so many people today have been lied to, sinned venially and mortally, and lost their souls to the devil to varying extents, through different forms of atheism, materialism, rationalism, relativism, hedonism, egotism, scientism, humanism, naturalism, etc.

     On the other hand, it seems that the more we pray and grow spiritually, from the ascetical stage to the mystical stage, the more we would be in union with God and become more sensitive to these various spiritual energies. Besides, we will be stronger or much stronger in defense against all kinds of sinful energies. To be sure, its perfection will occur only in Heaven.

      In this way, i.e., through our increasing spiritual growth in ever closer union with God, we will let the Biblical blessing incredibly come true, again and again, until its heavenly perfection, i.e., "Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more." (Rom 5:20) As a footnote, God's Divine Energy and God's grace are used interchangeably in Eastern Catholic tradition. All these spiritual energies mentioned above are also found in this mystical Eastern Christian tradition.

      Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!  May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph *bless and protect us all! [Alleluia will resume on Easter Sunday] (Feb. 17, *updated Feb. 18)

  (9) Today is the feast day of Sts. Francisco and St Jacinta Marto, the two visionary children in Fatima. Apparently, the following sermon is worth listening to. It was given during the celebration of a Holy Mass today by a wonderful priest in which we are encouraged to become a warrior of God's light or God's Divine Energy shining through the darkness of this world.

       Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!  May the Holy Family of Our Lord Jesus, the Immaculate Mother and St. Joseph bless and protect us all! [Alleluia will resume on Easter Sunday] (Feb. 20)

  (10) Today is the feast of the Chair of St. Peter. As we know, Christ the King said to Peter solemnly: "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it." (Mt 16:18) Indeed, just as Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Heavenly Mother, *and even St. Joseph, are invincible living Gates of Heaven, each Christian is called to become a living gate of Heaven to bring others into Heaven.

       Thus, one may say that the Process of Salvation is a process of struggles between the living gates of Heaven and the living gates or demons of Hell, until its perfection in Heaven or in Hell. Surely, the living gates of Hell and all its sinful energies cannot overcome Our Lord Jesus, the Mother of God, and all those who faithfully follow them as living gates of Heaven. However slowly, these little living gates of Heaven are being infused with God-pleasing energies or lights.

22, *Feb. 23)

--- January 2021 ---

   (1) Happy New Year of 2021! Today is also the solemnity of the Mother of God! One may say that the whole process of salvation is a process of conflicts and battles between God's divinization of the whole human family (*via God's Divine Energy, saintly energies of the Holy Angels and Saints, as well as saintly human energies) and the devil's pandemonization of all humanity (*via diabolic energy and sinful human energies). The Holy Bible reveals to us without doubt: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph 6:12)

      Thanks be to a Christian friend, according to Fr. Vincent Lampert, *an exorcist in the USA, the devil has a four-stage plan,  i.e., deception, division, diversion, and discouragement, in totally destroying each of us.  (*updated on Jan. 24)

       Historically, such a process of conflicts and battles --- which among others is visibly seen in the present pandemic as a sign of the worldwide pandemonism completely beyond human efforts to handle ---- has been clearly foretold in Genesis. Accordingly, God said to the serpent: "I will put enemity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel." (Gen 3:15) Whereas the old Eve was defeated by the devil through the original sin, the New Eve, i.e., the Mother of God, who was born without original sin, has been invincibly used by the Most Holy Trinity to utterly defeat the devil, the old serpent, as predicted in Fatima, etc. However, we all have to cooperate with the invincible Mother of God, through daily repentance, praying the Holy Rosary, meditating the Holy Bible, attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, doing the Holy Hour, following the Ten Commandments of God, doing a little sacrifice, etc., and become truly strong in the Lord (Eph 6:10-17).

      Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!  St. Joseph, Head of the Holy Family and Holy Terror of Demons, please intercede for us too together with the Holy Mother of God!   (2) Today is the Solemnity of Epiphany on which the Church celebrates the divine manifestation or appearance (theophany) of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. At the same time, today is also the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus celebrating that "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Phil 2:10-11)

       One may say that the whole process of salvation is the process of God the Infinite Omnipresent Uncreated Light, Love and Life  shining through all creation transparently dispelling completely all its sinful darkness in diaphany (dia means "through"; phany from Greek means "appearance or manifestation") beginning in and through the epiphany (epi from Greek means "on the surface") of Jesus Christ who is the only Saviour and Mediator between God and all creation.

      Teilhard de Chardin says: "The great mystery of Christianity is not exactly the appearance, but the transparence, of God in the universe. Yes, Lord, not only the ray that strikes the surface, but the ray that penetrates, not only your Epiphany, Jesus, but also your diaphany." (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, The Milieu Divin, An Essay on the Interior Life, Collins, 1973, p. 131)

     Alleluia! (Jan. 3)

  (3) By the way, effective on the first day of 2021, the author, having exceeded the normal age of retirement, has decided to enter formally into his semi-retirement. He is now only the semi-retired co-ordinator of Grace Institute of the Holy Eucharist, the semi-retired co-ordinator of AITEA, as well as a semi-retired writer of Catholic Theology of Energies (Qis) and the semi-retired writer of this column. In this way, being still healthy, he can spend more time praying and resting, living a healthy long life for the purpose of God as a writer if God is willing. Thank you all for all the prayers!

      Alleluia! (Jan. 3)

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *   *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

   (4) Today the Church is celebrating the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord Jesus. As the Holy Bible reveals to us, as soon as the Lord

Jesus whose humanity significantly represented the whole human family was baptized, the Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove

(Mk 1:10) and a voice of God the Father pronounced: "You are my Son, the Beloved, with you I am well pleased." (Mk 1:11)

     One may, therefore, say that the whole Process of Salvation is a process of what is traditionally called "filii per Fillium" (i.e., sons

through the Son) until its perfection in Heaven. As we know, fillii from Latin means "sons" and Filium from Latin means "Son" or

"the Son". To be more exact, it is through Our Lord Jesus the eternally beloved Son of God the Father as well as the amazing

grace of God the Holy Spirit that our whole Process of Salvation has become a process of becoming the true beloved sons and

daughters of God with whom God the Most Holy Trinity is well pleased. "See what love the Father has given us, that we should be

called children of God; and so we are." (1Jn 3:1)

     Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy

Angels and Saints!  St. Joseph, Head of the Holy Family and Holy Terror of Demons, please intercede for us too together with the

Holy Mother of God! (Jan. 10)

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *   *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

  (5) Today the Church is celebrating the astonishing conversion of St. Paul. As we know, before his amazing conversion, not knowing that Christ the Lord of all creation and the faithful followers of Christ are inseparable, St. Paul was notoriously anti-Christ and persecuted the Christians relentlessly with no letup. However, after his grace-filled conversion, having been struck down to the ground by the Divine Light or Energy of Christ, St. Paul irreversibly took on a new identity and announced that "to live is Christ" (Phil 1:21) and fearlessly proclaimed "it is no longer I live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Gal 2:20)

     Indeed, as "Christ is all, and in all" (Col 3:11), one may say that the whole Process of Salvation is a process of learning again and again, starting afresh even each day, to live completely in Christ Our Dream Friend, from Christ Our Dream Friend, with Christ Our Dream Friend, for Christ Our Dream Friend, through Christ Our Dream Friend, by Christ Our Dream Friend, and to Christ Our Dream Friend, inseparably so, until its perfection in Heaven. It is thus sad to see, for example, that in the two prayers said by the two Christian ministers during the recent presidential inauguration of a Christian nation, the name of Christ was not mentioned even once. Yet, Our Lord Jesus Christ, the everlasting King of all creation pronounced solemnly: "Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels." (Lk 9:26) In other words, if we are not ashamed of Christ now, the King of Kings will not be ashamed of us at all when we need Him most later in our very weaknesses.

  (6) Today is the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas. It may be important, among others, to quote St. Thomas's three theological principles in our spiritual relationship with St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, during the current year of St. Joseph.

        As regards the unfortunate people due to the pandemic,  St. Thomas may have an important message today, as he said: "There is no sacrifice by which souls are released from Purgatory, except the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass."

       Alleluia! (Jan. 28)

--- December 2020 ---

   (1)  By the grace of God, another former site of the present webpage has been recently restored. Apparently, as the regular services of so many Catholic parishes around the world have been locked down due to the current pandemic, it may be time to appreciate, as never before, the Real Presence of Jesus, the King of Kings of all creation, who is fully present in the Blessed Sacrament. What follows is taken word for word from the very words of Jesus Himself spoken to the monk (taken from the inner locution of a Benedictine monk in In Sinu Jesu, The Journal of a Priest at Prayer (imprimatur by Most Rev. Bishop Michael Smith, DCI: Angelico Press, 2016), p. 170:

       "My presence in the Blessed Sacrament preached, and confessed, and surrounded by adoration, love, and heartfelt reparation is the single greatest remedy for the evils that afflict My Church and for the sorrows that weigh so heavily upon My priests. My ways are not your ways, nor do I act according to the principles of worldly successes. I act in the silent, humble, hidden reality of My Eucharistic presence. Adore Me, and the radiance of My Eucharistic Face will begin to change the face of he earth, even as it heals My priests, calls sinners home to My Heart, and enlivens the hearts of those grown weary and sad (like the disciples on the road to Emmaus) with a spark of divine vitality and with the fire of My Eucharistic love."

       By all appearances, the silent, humble, hidden way of Jesus's Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament is also the way how the radiation of Jesus's Eucharistic Energies work for the divinization and the intercessory intentions of those who spend much time daily in silent, humble, hidden adoration and companionship with Him Eucharistically.

  (3) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Due to the basic completion of the introductory volume on the research of Catholic Theology of Qis, the author would like to take a long Christmas and New Year academic holiday until the beginning of February 2021. Amid doing other things, this work has been slowly and seriously put together since Dec. 2012. Originally, it was thought that this project would involve only one volume. However, as it has turned out, such an endeavour has evolved into two volumes and quite a long time.

       In any case, brothers and sisters in Christ, have a truly prayerful and happy Christmas and New Year!  As we know, according to St. Thomas Aquinas, God is Happiness by His very divine nature. At the same time, true happiness is called man's supreme good. (cf. Summa Theologica, Q. 3, Art 2, Pt. I-II) Indeed, it is only in God and through God which true happiness can be obtained by human beings.

       Thus, as all creation has been immensely permeated by God's happy nature or Divine Energy of Happiness, awaiting our discovery and participation, it becomes duly important for us to activate such an omnipresence of God. At the same time, since all creation is permeated also by un-divine nature or energies, it has become a real struggle to break through such ongoing un-divine barriers in order to be truly connected with God's happy nature. That is why V. Rozanov, an Eastern Christian monk, said: "There is no life without prayer. Without prayer there is only madness and horror." (Fr. Kallistos Ware, The Orthodox Way, St. Vladimir Seminary's Press, 1980, p. 140) Nevertheless, the Bible consoles and reaffirms us: "Draw near to God and God will draw near to you." (James 4:8)

       In addition, to be authentically connected with God's divine nature, Our Heavenly Mother in Medjugorje has most sincerely and earnestly recommended us to pray as much as three hours a day. Since many of us are having a holiday and being in a lock down due to the pandemic, it is only reasonable for us to seriously try such a recipe of becoming truly happy in the present season, at least as an verifiable experiment. Of course, such an experiment is not easy, due to our human weakness. Simultaneously, the evil spirit will certainly attempt to discourage and distract us in countless ways.

       Through it all, it is perfectly justifiable to try it again and again. If it works, many many more happy times will follow. However, it is always wise to bear in mind that, as Abba Agathon, another Eastern monk, said, "To pray is the hardest of all tasks. If we do not find prayer difficult, perhaps it is because we have not really started to pray." (Ibid., p. 151) In any case, just try it. With true humility, repentance, patience and determination, in particular with the incredible help of the Holy Spirit and Our Heavenly Mother, we would be able to work through such an experiment and become a life-time prayer warrior for the Lord of True Happiness!

       Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Dec. 20)

 --- Nov. 2020 ---

   (1) Today is All Saints' Day (Nov. 1) and tomorrow (Nov. 2) is All Souls' Day. In the light of the Three Secrets of Fatima, both days are reminding us seriously of the unsurpassed importance of becoming practicing saints during our life. Otherwise, the consequence is not only Purgatory (cf. All Souls' Day), but also everlasting Hell (according to the 1st Secret of Fatima) and even a big war (according to the 2nd Secret of Fatima).

      Although the 3rd Secret of Fatima may still be in controversy, it seems safe to say that it is also very much about the disastrous consequences of grave un-repented sins, involving even the whole humanity. Thus, it is vital to pray each day to the Most Holy Trinity as well as to all the Saints and Holy Angels in Heaven to help us accordingly, even if it means to pray much daily and to go to Confession once a month. *Apparently saints are those people who "have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Rev 7:14).

      In this way, we would all be enjoying, to varying extents, a foretaste of Heaven even on earth as 'citizens of Heaven', the certificate of which is officially given to us through Baptism. *In other words, the certificate verifying our Baptism is the certificate certifying our everlasting citizenship of Heaven.

      *“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him." (1Cor 2:9) Yet, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence" (Mt 11:12) which is constantly being instigated against each of us by our one and only one enemy, i.e., the devil. For this reason, Our Heavenly Mother has strongly recommended Five Powerful Stones to be used in this frequent spiritual battle, i.e., Holy Rosary, Holy Fasting, Holy Bible. Holy Eucharist, and Holy Confession.

  (3) This is the month of the holy souls in Purgatory. What can people today learn from the holy souls? Apparently, countless people in this pleasure-seeking age are practicing all kinds of God-displeasing, Divine-Energy-dissipating things (as if the omnipresent God does not exist), while suffering chaotically from the current Purgatory-like pandemic of Corvid-19 which seems to be getting out of control in many countries.

      Apparently, there are at least the following things people can learn from the holy souls who have to a great extent seen and experienced the other side of the curtain: (A) The holy souls  in Purgatory have realized and accepted that they are now living in a great necessary purifying trial of their former sinful or not so holy life; (B) Having been judged personally by Christ the King, they believe now in the Most Holy Trinity who has created them and want them to go to Heaven; (C) While they will never perish, their earthly life is not meant to last forever; (D) There is everlasting Hell, just as there is everlasting Heaven; (E) The Holy Angels as well as the evil spirits are real; (F) The holy souls are repenting from their sins and sinful habits; (G) They are willing to do the necessary penances or reparations; (H) They are truly hungry for God and are eagerly returning to God; (I) They have great hope in God, in His mercy and in Heaven; (J) They are praying for others; (K) They are very grateful also to the Mother of God, all the Holy Angels and Saints, as well as the many people on earth who are praying for them; (L) They have discovered, too, that the Holy Mass is the greatest God-given Treasure not only of the Church, but also of the whole humanity and universe to be sanctified.

  (4) Today is the Solemnity of Christ the King. As Jesus Christ is the divinely appointed Supreme Judge of all the living and the dead, as well as the unsurpassed King of Kings of the whole universe and the unconditional Lord of time and eternity, perhaps it is time, as a healthy balance, to profoundly contemplate on 'eternity' itself.

       Quoting from De Consolatione the work of Boëthius (c. 477-524), St. Thomas Aquinas re-emphasizes:Eternity is the simultaneously-whole and perfect possession of interminable life. (PT. 1, Q. 10, Art. 3, in: St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica, Vol. One, trans. by Fathers of the English Dominican Province, 1947, p. 40) All in all, St. Thomas concludes: “Eternity is nothing else but God Himself.” (Ibid, p. 41) Indeed, the amazing reality is that this Eternity, being the same as the Most Holy Trinity who has been reaching out to us all in and through Its Divine Energy in Christ since the first moment of creation, is everywhere omnipresent, permeating everything. At the same time, this Uncreated Divine Energy is awaiting our personal discovery and prayerful, loving, even repented connection in Christ. Apparently, this is the very essence of evangelization, i.e., that created as children of God countless people through Christ may plentifully share or inherit forever in Heaven the 'eternal life' of God who is Uncreated Eternity Itself.

--- October 2020 ---

   (1) Today is the first day of the month of praying the Holy Rosary of Our Heavenly Mother. During this month, the Church is celebrating the blessed feast days of our dear Guardian Angels (Oct, 2) and many wonderful Saints, such as St. Therese of Lisieux (Oct. 1),  St. Francis of Assisi (Oct. 4), St. Faustina (Oct. 5), Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (Oct. 7), *St. J. H. Newman (Oct. 9), St. John XXIII (Oct. 11), St. Teresa of Avila (Oct. 15), St. Luke (Oct. 18), St. John Paul II (Oct. 22), etc., who have been praying for us all. To be sure, one way of being grateful to these great friends in Heaven is to be united with them as a family, pray along with them during the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and co-operate with them in doing the will of God.

  (3) Today is Thanksgiving Monday in Canada. Apparently, there are two major levels of giving thanks or being grateful to God. The first level is "conditional", i.e., we are thankful to God on the very condition that we are wonderfully blessed or that God has truly answered our prayers to our heart's content, etc.  The second level is "unconditional", i.e., we are still very thankful to God in whatever condition we are in or that God has not really answered our prayers, etc.

      Without doubt, the second or higher level is immensely God-pleasing, as St. Paul teaches us: "Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1Thess 5:16-18) Obviously, such a grateful heart requires one's unconditional love and trust of God which is obtained only through constant prayer, i.e., prayerful activation of God's omnipresent divine nature (or Divine Energy according to Eastern Christian tradition). As we know, God who cannot change is by His divine nature infinitely good, far-sighted, kind, merciful, happy, peaceful, wise, and grateful, etc. Thus, it is only by praying constantly that we would become partakers of such a divine nature (cf. 2Pet 1:3-4).

      How constantly should one pray is a big question. According to Our Heavenly Mother, one should if possible pray three hours daily. Thus, for those who are retired or practicing social distancing during the present pandemic, staying home can become a blessing in disguise for fulfilling and experiencing such an incredible prayerful lifestyle.

   (2) Today is the Birthday of Our Heavenly Mother. Happy Birthday, Our Dearest Mother in Heaven! Apparently, one of the greatest birthday gifts which one can give her is a pure heart which is ever practicing unceasing repentance. Once a monk was asked what prayerful monks are doing in the monastery. The answer was: "We fall down and get up. We fall down and get up."

       According to the mystical tradition of Eastern Christianity, God's Uncreated Divine Light, Energy or Nature is ever present everywhere invisibly, deeply permeating all creation. Therefore, for an individual to strive having a pure or purified heart means for him/her to help God activate His divine omnipresence to varying extents according to the extent of his/her purity. In this way, knowingly or unknowingly, one would be allowing God's omnipresent and omnipotent Divine Light, Energy or Nature to shine through one's heart, helping God effectively to divinize, sanctify, transform or connaturalize others (i.e., to help others to have to same nature as God's) as well as the whole universe in the current process of salvation, divinization or connaturalization of God's creation.

       This is precisely why God's Divine Light, Energy or Nature can glow most resplendently in and through the perfectly divine Heart of Jesus as well as the perfectly immaculate Heart of Our Heavenly Mother. That can also explain why a pure prayerful heart can help God reach out far and wide evangelically, doing miracles and achieving great things which we normally cannot.

       "Out of his heart, there flows rivers of living waters." (Jn 7:38) Traditionally, 'living water' has been regarded by many Christians as 'God's grace' or 'Divine Energy.' Hence, one's heart has a certain significant radiating effects over one's personal behavior and environment, indeed even other parts of the universe to a certain extent. Thus, it may be important for Christians to pray with the heart, e.g., praying the daily Holy Rosary as well as whole Divine Mercy Three-O Clock prayer for the world, doing it even three times during these challenging times of the Corvid-19 for the purpose of God. In any case, it can further explain why, among others, St. Therese of Lisieux has been upheld by the Universal Church as a great Patron Saint of Missionaries although she had never gone out of her monastic convent to do evangelization during all her monastic life.

        *All in all, understanding the human heart as the very core centre of a person in the Middle-Eastern and Eastern-Asian traditions, a purified, sanctified or divinized heart, is thus the bright future of (and for) a person, a family, a community, a church, a society, a civilization, etc., indeed even the whole humanity and all creation. Such a God-pleasing heart is where the Holy Spirit, as well as His Divine Energy and various gifts, can freely use and channel through for the blessings of others. Apparently, this is the main goal of practicing ceaseless repentance or divinization (as a prayerful state), i.e., not only for oneself but also for God and for others.

      Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Sept. 8, *Updated Sept. 20)

   (3) Are there any individual persons in the whole human family who do not need to practice unceasing repentance at all? As we know so well, there have been and will be only two persons who are completely sinless or immaculate. Clearly, the first person is Our Lord Jesus and the other is Our Immaculate Mother. All the rest of human beings are born in original and ancestoral sins and are being permeated and surrounded by all kinds of sins and sinful effects or energies during their lives. Therefore, there is perfectly no shame of practicing unceasing repentance. In fact, only the truly humble and wise souls would earnestly do so. Generally, the people on the street do not think they are that sinful and need to repent that often. In any case, according to Rev. Fr. Stefano Gobbi, Our Blessed Mother advises us to go to Confession once a week if possible.

       However sinless and perfectly holy Our Lord Jesus and His Beloved Mother are, they were born to help us carry the effects of all our sins redemptively, destined to suffer heroically for all humanity. That is why the Church today is celebrating most gratefully the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, giving thanks to her for all the heart-breaking troubles which she has gone through for the whole human family as Our Most Sorrowful and Most Beloved Mother. *Here is a deeper way of thanking and consoling Our Beloved Mother of Sorrows as sent by someone who does so.

  (4) Today is the feast of St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael, the three Holy Archangels who are sent by God to guide and protect us all. One may ask: What are the similarities between human beings and these Archangels. Among others, two great similarities are that they are both God's creatures and that they are concerned about the climate in which we are living, except that these Holy Archangels are truly concerned about both our climate on earth as well as our climate in our afterlife, i.e., whether we are going to Heaven (with the perfect climate) or end up in Hell (with the worst possible climate we can imagine).

        St. Ignatius of Loyola once said: "Imagine the worst you can, and then say, 'All this is nothing compared to hell.'" Patently, hell is an everlasting abode of darkness, death, and fire, above all, the everlasting separation from God and companionship with all the evil spirits. On the other hand, each person is created to be with God, the Infinite Source of all that is true, good, beautiful, and holy. Such a union with God as well as with all His Holy Angels and Saints begins and continues on not only in Heaven, but also very much on earth, in particular through the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, with the help of God as well as all of God's Holy Angels and Saints.

        Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Sept. 29)

--- August 2020 ---00

   (1) Today is August 15 when the whole Western Church is commonly celebrating the great feast of the Assumption of Mary. At the same time, this feast day in the Eastern Churches is called the Dormition of the Mother of God. Indeed, along with St. Paul, this great feast is vividly reminding us that each human person living on this imperfect earth is ultimately called to be a permanent citizen or immigrant to the perfect and everlasting Heaven. In this regard, the Church founded by Christ has remarkably become the most effective Immigration Office to Heaven for each member the whole human family. This unmistakable fact is particular significant to all of us in these challenging and uncertain times of the Corvid-19.

      In any case, please kindly pray for the repose of the soul of Rev. Prof. Matthias Christian, SVD, an occasional advisor for Catholic Theology of Energies (Qis), who has gone to the Lord recently on July 22.

      By the way, *the first part of the two parts of An Introduction to the Research and Development of Catholic Theology of Qis has been basically put together on our website. Here we like to express our immense thanksgiving to the graces given by the Most Holy Trinity, as well as the intercession of many sisters and brothers, in particular the prayers of Our Heavenly Mother and St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of China and the whole Chinese Catholic Church. Frankly speaking, without the merciful graces of God and the intercessory prayers aforementioned, this work, which started at the beginning of December 2012, could never have been completed, not even imperfectly.

     Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Aug. 15, *updated Aug. 22)

   (2) According to Cardinal Avery Dulles (1918-2008), there are at least five models of the Church, i.e., the Church serving as an Institution, a Mystical Communion, a Sacrament, a Herald, and a Servant (cf. Avery Dulles, Models of the Church, Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1974). Apparently, regarding analogically the Church of Christ as  an Immigration Office is quite appealing to many people today, since being an immigrant in general does not require one to go through the death process which most of us are really afraid of.

      In addition, being an immigrant to Heaven presupposes that one would go straight to Heaven without pain. Therefore, among others, such a model of the Church would encourage us to do what is appropriate to go directly to Heaven. Accordingly to one sacred tradition of the Church, in order to skip Purgatory and stay away from everlasting Hell effectively, one should really practice the two greatest commandments of God frequently and do much praying on earth now while there is plenty of time available. At the same time, one ought to give God every priority in life, accept any unavoidable suffering (such as that due to the Corvid 19), and above all, go to Confession and do sufficient repentance and God-pleasing reparation for our personal sins and faults. One sacred tradition of the Church even advises us to start praying daily sincerely for all the holy souls in Purgatory and for the *true repentance of sinners, so that they will not stop praying for our Heaven-bound immigration when they arrive happily in Heaven for all eternity. *Further, there is another sacred tradition which advises us to take St. Joseph as the Patron Saint of Happy Death.

   (3) Today is the feast of the Queenship of Mary. Indeed, if God Our Father is de facto the King of the whole creation and Our Heavenly Mother is the Queen of Heaven and of the whole cosmos (or Queen of all things -- "universorum regina" (Lumen Gentium 59), who are we created as beloved children of God?

        Without doubt, we are, as it is, the princes and princesses of Heaven and of the whole universe. In fact, this very truth is very much Biblical. Therefore, to be a Christian is to become who we really are created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27). To evangelize is to remind others and help them to become who they really are, i.e., each human person is potentially already a prince or princess of Heaven and of the whole universe. In truth, only when we are in Heaven shall we finally realize or actualize such an incredible divine plan or dream of God.

        Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Aug. 22)

  (4) An unexpected email written by Rev. Sr. M., a very conservative religious sister, is sent in. Accordingly, this email is warning us about the uncontrollable worldwide return of the Corvid-19, a coming war, and the shortage of food, advising us not only to be begging for God's mercy, but also to store at least 3 months of food. Further, Sr. M. asks us not to take any vaccine, since it will change our DNA. As we all know, we are presently living in unprecedentedly uncertain times in which anything unthinkable can take place. According to various insightful experts, the present calm in the summer may be just the calm before the next big storm. One, therefore, should not be surprised and regard this prayerful nun as utterly irrational, losing her usual sound and discerning mind. In the words of St. Louis de Monfort: "A fervent and diligent person is ready for all things." At the same time, a certain wise and experienced general once said that it is better to prepare for all possibilities than to regret much later.

      All in all, it seems that there are ultimately three major Reasons why Providence has allowed the present challenging times to have happened to the whole humanity, i.e., Repentance of our sins, Reparation of such evil consequences, and Return to God's divine law and love like a prodigal son or daughter of God. To be sure, if we earnestly do so, God's incredible blessings would be overflowing us aplenty without stop. Simultaneously, as we know, the present salvation process, similar to the earthly life of Christ Our Saviour and His Mother, is not a no-pain-all-gain process. Rather, it is clearly a no-pain-no-gain process like that of Purgatory. Since all things are working for good for those who truly love God and cooperate with God according to His divine purpose (Rom 8:28), may the Holy Spirit help us to continue to praise God and trust God in all things (cf. 1Thess 5:16-24) on our way to the no-pain-all-gain Heaven and to avoid completely the everlasting all-pain-no-gain Hell.

      Indeed, the perennial prayer Hail Holy Queen seems to indicate well the very real situation in our present journey to Heaven. Pray for us, thus, O Holy Queen who has gone through at least seven sorrows on earth that we may be worthy of the promises of God as God's beloved children! Pray for us also, dear St. Joseph who is allegedly given by God  to be a special Patron Saint for our current tough times.

       Alleluia! Alleluia! *Praise and thanks be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian, Eucharistic and Evangelical Family of Holy Angels and Saints!   (Aug. 24, *updated Aug. 29)

* This column is written by John CHENG Wai-leung, Ph.D. (religious studies), Th.M. (Eastern Orthodox theology), M.Div. (Roman Catholic theology), B.Ed., B.A., semi-coordinator of Grace Institute of the Holy Eucharist (1985) and Association of International Theology of Energies (Qis) Authors (2011).

    Being his email address, jjcheng321@yahoo.com has been inspired as a spiritual ideal to live. Accordingly, "jj" was enthused by St. Paul who said in Galatians 2:20: "It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." On the other hand, it was encouraged by St. Theresa of Lisieux who said in her Diary that for a long time, she had no longer belonged to herself, since she had given herself completely to Jesus so that He might do to her in whatever He truly pleased. Further, "321" only shows that there were too many "jjcheng"s on the internet when it was chosen in 2005. Indeed, after searching for more than 20 minutes with a friend who was also an internet expert, "jjcheng321" was gladly adopted. Of course, he has to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly for all the possible imperfections, as God can transparently see the heart of each person without mistake.

** Besides some spiritual insights, this completely non-fund-raising site includes news on Philosophy of Energies (Qis) which leads to Catholic Theology of Energies (Qis).

*** We wish there would be even more writings and presentations on this new renewing theology by many authors in the future. However very small, informal and slow-progressing, we are taking Eph 3:20-21 seriously: "Now to God who by the power [or God's Divine Energy] at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, to God be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen." At the same time, we sincerely hope that Num 6:24-26 would come true to us all: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise be to the Most Holy Trinity and Its whole Marian and Eucharistic Family of Holy Angels and Saints!
