2nd SEPT 2010 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER Sunday - The Lord's Day (Dies Domini) Pastoral Letter of H.L. Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
The Lord's Day — as Sunday was called from Apostolic times — has always been given special attention in the history of the Church because Sunday recalls the day of Christ's Resurrection. Thus, it stands at the very heart of all worship.
In his Pastoral Letter, "Dies Domini" which comes to us on the 5th anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination, H.L. Bishop Camillo reflects on the meaning and importance of Sunday and through it urges the faithful to rediscover the reasons for keeping the Lord's Day holy. Given its many meanings and aspects, and its link to the very foundations of the faith, the celebration of the Christian Sunday is an indispensable element of our Christian identity.
Novena Prayer To Our Lady The Novena begins on 30th August in preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary on 8th September
Oh, Most Holy Virgin! You were chosen by the Most Adorable Trinity from all eternity to be the most pure Mother of Jesus. Permit me, your humble and devoted servant, to remind you of the joy received in the instant of the Most Sacred Incarnation of our Divine Lord and during the nine months you carried Him in your chaste womb. I wish most sincerely that I could renew, or even increase that joy, by the fervour of my Prayers.
Oh, Tender Mother of the afflicted! Grant me under my present necessities that special protection you have promised to those who devoutly commemorate this ineffable joy. Relying on the infinite mercies of your Divine Son, trusting in the promise which He has made that those who ask should receive, and penetrated with confidence in your powerful prayers, I most humbly entreat you to intercede for me. I beg you to obtain for me the favours which I petition for in this novena, if it be the Holy Will of God to grant them; to ask for me whatever graces I most stand in need of.
(Here, mention your petition)
I desire by this novena, which I now offer in your honour, to prove the lively confidence I have in your intercession. Accept it, I beseech you, in honour of that supernatural love and joy, with which your Immaculate Heart was replenished during the abode of your divine Son in your womb; in veneration of which, I offer you the sentiments of my heart.
(Repeat the Hail Mary nine times) and then say the following prayer -
Oh, Mother of God! Accept these salutations in union with the respect and veneration with which the Angel Gabriel first hailed you, "Full of Grace" I wish most sincerely that they may become so many gems in the crown of your incidental glory, which will increase in brightness to the end of the world.
I beseech you, Oh, comfortress of the afflicted, by the joy you received, when the Word was made flesh, to obtain for me the favours and graces, which I have now implored through your powerful intercession. For this end I offer you all the good works which have ever been performed in your honour. I most humbly entreat you for the love of the amiable Heart of Jesus, with which yours was ever so inflammed, to hear my humble prayers and to obtain my requests. Amen.
This Novena prayer will be helpful to those helpless people when everything fails, and who want speedy and visible answers to their agony.
16 Aug: Kuwaiti Prime Minister in Malta
The Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was in Malta to attend the funeral of the former President Guido de Marco. Sheikh Nasser was accompanied by a 25-member delegation including ministers and advisers. Kuwait has a deep respect for Prof. de Marco in view of his support for the country during the Iraqi Invasion. Prof. de Marco was President of the UN General Assembly at that time.
In the picture: Sheikh Nasser briefly meets with and expresses his condolences to Bishop Emeritus (of Kuwait) Francis Micallef, OCD, at the funeral. [Read the full article here]
In Prayerful Reflection of August 2, 1990
Let us take a moment to prayerfully remember divine assistance during the days of the Invasion & Gulf War and ask God for His blessing of peace to all nations...
"On the 20th anniversary of the invasion of Kuwait by the heavily armed Iraqi military forces which took place in the early hours of the 2nd of August 1990, I thank God and Our Lady of Arabia for their protection not only on that dreadful day but also throughout the seven months of occupation by the Iraqi troops and during the Gulf War for the liberation of Kuwait. I want to also thank the priests, sisters and the faithful for the mutual support and the many services rendered to the churches and the people in general during those months of hardship and bewilderment.
Alas! the situation in Iraq is still unstable after these past twenty years. Our Christians are in a very uneasy situation there. I continue to pray and hope that the situation becomes one of peace and trust between the different factions and religious groups. Let us continue to hope and pray that all nations learn to live in peace and share their sustainable material progress. We, Christians, especially have so much to contribute towards the building of the world's people into one big family of the One God, our loving and merciful Father. God bless you all."
- Francis Micallef, ocd - Bishop Emeritus of Kuwait (in Malta)
An Exclusive Interview With His Grace Archbishop Petar Rajič APOSTOLIC NUNCIO TO KUWAIT, BAHRAIN, QATAR, YEMEN & UAE
AND APOSTOLIC DELEGATE IN THE ARABIAN PENINSULA
His Grace Archbishop Petar Rajič very kindly agreed to an interview exclusively for the vicariate web-site. In a candid conversation with Sr. Carmel Ann A.C., His Grace was everything one could expect him to be - gracious, articulate and straightforward! He strikes a deep chord within us as we learn more through the interview about his family, his vocation as a priest and his new ministry as Apostolic Nuncio to the Arabian Gulf States.
Prayer for the Family H.L. Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ, has anounced that the theme for the forthcoming Third Unity Congress will be "The Family". In preparation for the event, this prayer will be recited after every Mass, except on Thursdays. The faithful are encouraged to include this prayer in their daily devotion at home.
Lord Jesus, We humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to our family. May our home be the shrine of peace, purity, love and faith.
Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the new born, the schools of the young and their vocations.
Saint Joseph, Holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all the necessities of life. Watch over our home so that with Mary and you, heaven may find our families united and loving all, for ever and ever.
Amen.
2nd SEPT 2009 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER We Cannot Live Without The Eucharist: Pastoral Letter of H.L. Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter, "We Cannot Live Without the Eucharist!" comes to us on the 4th anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination. It is a cont- inuation of his previous two pastoral letters (released in 2007 and 2008).
In this letter, the Bishop invites the faithful to contemplate and comprehend in a deeper way what the Eucharist is! The title of the pastoral letter which is a profession of the testimony of the martyrs: We cannot live without the Eucharist! is a call to re-discover the beauty and the amazement of the Eucharist.
The main section of the pastoral letter is written in the form of questions and answers, compiled from the numerous questions that the Bishop has received from the faithful and from the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
2 SEPT 2008 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER One Body in Christ: Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Second Pastoral Letter which was released on the third anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination is based on the Parts of the Holy Mass with a more detailed explanation of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from 1 Cor 10:17. St. Paul says: "And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all share in the one loaf."
In the introduction, reference to the Passover is used to illumine the meaning of Christ’s redeeming sacrifice. Jesus, an observant Jew, died at Passover. His Last Supper — where he gave us the Eucharist as a way to remember and receive him — was a Passover meal (Luke 22:7-38). A Christian Passover highlights the fact that Jesus’ death and resurrection is a new exodus. What does that mean for us? How can we live out this reality more fully? ...
The Letter concludes with notes and indications on how to use the letter.

21st SEPT 2007 : RELEASE OF BISHOP CAMILLO'S PASTORAL LETTER Eucharistic Amazement: Pastoral Letter of His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin, MCCJ
H.L. Bishop Camillo's Pastoral Letter of this year is on the Eucharist. The title of the Letter has been taken from the Papal Encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia, in which thrice Pope John Paul II described the Eucharist as "amazement".
The First Part of the Pastoral Letter explains in as simple terms as possible: the Biblical Roots of the Eucharistic Celebration, The Eucharist as a Sacrament of Unity, The Altar as Symbol of Christ and Music in the Liturgy. The Second Part of the Pastoral Letter closely examines the Liturgy of the Word. Each section of the Letter concludes with thought-provoking questions for a deeper understanding. Pastoral Letter: EUCHARISTIC AMAZEMENT ASK THE BISHOP: Send your questions / comments to H.L. Bishop Camillo.

B E A T I F I C A T I O N & C A N O N I S A T I O N C A U S E :
LET US PRAY: O Blessed Trinity, we thank You for having gifted the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of Your Fatherly care, the glory of the Cross of Christ, and the splendour of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with You. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your Will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among Your saints. Amen.
"The Son of Man must be lifted up", said Jesus, referring to His crucifixion ... Whoever believes in Him, whoever sees in this Cross and in the Crucified One, the Redeemer of the world, whoever looks with faith on the redemptive death of Jesus on the Cross, finds in Him the power of eternal life!
2. Our Lady of Sorrows.
The title "Our Lady of Sorrows" focuses on Mary's intense suffering during the passion and death of Christ. "The Seven Dolors," refers to the seven swords that pierced the Heart of Mary. The feast is like an octave for the birthday of Our Lady on 8th September.
Bishop (Emeritus) Francis Micallef, OCD, retired as 3rd Vicar Apostolic of Kuwait in July 2005 ... The Bishop is having a happy retirement in Malta, surrounded by family and friends ...
