The Father Emil J. Kapaun, Council #11987 was founded in June 1997 in part through the efforts of the First Grand Knight, Senior Master Sergeant, USAF (retired), Fred Dembinski. It's named after Fr. Emil J. Kapaun, A military Chaplain who died in captivity at the hands of his captors during the Korean War. The Kapaun Council works closely with the Holy Family Parish in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC). The KMC includes at least five different military chapels spread throughout the area (See the "Local Information" section of this web-page) and is made up of U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and civilians from local and nearby communities.
