Visions 2000: Christian and Secular, East and West

A Symposium for the Future

November 2 - December 14

Seven Monday Evenings 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Lynch Hall, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish,

520 Sherbourne St., Toronto

"Where there is no vision, the people perish." (Prov 29:18). Yet the Catholic Church as a whole will survive (cf. Mt 16:18). It is uncertain, however, how many of the faithful would keep their genuine faith and live a true vision in this increasingly pluralistic and secular world. Hosea 4:6 indeed reveals that God's people are perishing for the lack of knowledge. The following seminars intend to chart for us a few important highlights.

November 2 "The Vision of Pope John-Paul II in our Modern Age" Rev. Fr. Henry McErlean, M.A., O.S.A., Director of Marylake Retreat Centre

November 9 "Christian Faith Encounters The Celestine Vision" John Cheng, Th.M., chair of Grace Institute of the Holy Eucharist

November 16 "Prophetic Visions and the Church" Tony Keogh, Ph.D., senior writer for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal

November 23 "A Gospel Vision for the Millennium" Cora Twohig-Moengangongo, Th.D. Sessional lecturer at The Faculty of Theology, University of St. Michael's College

November 30 "Teilhard's Faith and Vision of the Catholic Church" Prof. Janine Langan, senior professor and foundress of the Christianity and Culture Program at the University of St. Michael's College, University of Toronto

December 7 "Pope John-Paul II and His Global Vision for the 21st Century" John McRae, founder of Global Beacon Community and Mother of Mercy Farm

December 14 "The Beatific Vision" Prof. Michael Lapierre, S.J. Professor emeritus of systematic theology at Regis College, University of Toronto
