Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us!

May 1, 2004 (P.S. May 9)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we celebrate the very beginning of May, the month of Mary, as well as the feast day of St. Joseph (i.e., St. Joseph the worker, besides that on March 19 a few weeks ago), it is only natural that we are thinking also of the dear Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

As we know, the Holy Family is not only a holy, precious reflection of the Uncreated Family of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Indeed, Jesus-Mary-Joseph together is also is a living microcosmic image of the whole Divine Heavenly Family, i.e., the Most Holy Trinity together with Its whole Family of Holy Angels and Saints.

Further, if the process of Salvation can be depicted as a process of Familization in which we would enter into the Divine Heavenly Family in Heaven for the rest of eternity, the Holy Family would, then, become the Dream Team and Model par excellence to help us fulfill our dream of Familization for ever and ever in Heaven.

Let us, then, rejoice and be thankful to God for all the blessings of the Holy Family. Alleluia!

Yours sincerely in Christ and Our Heavenly Mother,

Editor

(P.S. May 9) Mother's Day

Let us wish all mothers, in particular Our Heavenly Mother, a truly wonderful happy Mother's Day! Alleluia!

* Fr. Michael Lapierre, S.J., and the editor John Cheng and assistant editor Tony Ercolani are currently taking part in this monthly column. While the latter (John and Tony) is writing in January, March, and May, etc., the former is doing so in February, April and June, etc. As usual, we take July and August as our summer holidays. The background hymn is a version of "Immaculate Mary". Thank you.

** A spiritual insight to share: When we pray the Memorare, as a dear Christian once suggested, we may also add St. Joseph along with Our Heavenly Mother, e.g., "Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary and dear St. Joseph, that ….". Praise God!
