Communication with Visitors*

Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us!

February 1, 2003 (P.S. Feb. 11)

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Today is the first day of February. It happens to be Chinese New Year. So Happy New Year simultaneously to all, since the editor missed saying so also on January 1 last month.

Life is fully of adjustments. As over 97% of the world's 1.3 billion Chinese people are un-evangelized, the editor has for quite a while felt deeply called and obliged to give a hand in such evangelization, while at the same time he has to remain unconditionally focused in his life vocation regarding Theology of Energy for God's people everywhere. And yet the time may have arrived for him to help organize another St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Gregory Palamas public lectures which has occurred twice in the past, i.e., in 1994 and 1998. How is he going to handle all these projects appropriately?

After much thought, the solution found so far is to start doing slowly the St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Gregory Palamas Philosophical, Theological and Spiritual Notes which may take the next few years or decades to complete. Tentatively entitled Reminders: What Many People Seem To Be Missing, these brief reminders or short philosophical, theological and spiritual entries will be put on the site in such a way that they would involve no pressure on everyone concerned. Simultaneously, it is suggested here that unless something very important is to be written, the authors of Communication with Visitors would be writing no more than twice a month. Indeed, if he could, he would like to write a few times a week here in Communication with Visitors as he used to at one time.

To read our new site with regards Sts. Thomas and Gregory Notes, click here. We would begin to insert the first entry perhaps in a few months. Meanwhile, please feel free to let us know what you think. Our e-mail address is faith@interlog.com .

By the way, we cannot but mourn deeply over the accident this morning with the seven astronauts in the U.S. It may not be a good sign at all for our dear neighbours' adventure in the possible war in the Middle East, however well equipped with the latest technology. Let us beg God for boundless mercy over all concerned.

Yours sincerely in Christ and Our Heavenly Mother,

Editor

P.S. (Feb. 11) Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Thank you, Our Dearest Mother in Heaven for your boundless love and ceaseless prayers! For further information, click here and here.

Participating abundantly in the salvific works of Jesus Christ the Bearer of the Water or Energy of Life, Our Heavenly Mother is also a Bearer of such Energy of Life. As Christ's Energy of Life does not cease radiating from His Real Presence in the Consecrated Host, such Divine Energy is also flowing through her to us. It was reported that when the Immaculate Conception appeared to St. Bernadette at Lourdes in 1858, immense Divine Light or Energy was radiating from her presence. Indeed, just as every prayerful moment or Holy Hour spent before the Radiant Eucharist is a priceless occasion of quenching our spiritual thirst with God's Energy of Life, every prayerful moment spent in the company of Our Heavenly Mother becomes a Second Serving from Heaven. It is particularly so when we pray the Holy Rosary slowly and sweetly, with all our heart.

While we are celebrating the Feast of Our Heavenly Mother, we cannot forget the Pope's prayer request for world peace: "At this hour of international worry, we all feel the need to look to God and beg Him to grant us the great gift of peace." (Toronto Star: Monday, February 10, 2003, p. A8) Our Lady, Queen of Peace, please continue to pray for all of us unceasingly with regards the war which is looming over the Middle East!

* Fr. Michael Lapierre, S.J., and the editor John Cheng are currently taking part in this monthly column. While the former is writing in January, March, and May, etc., the latter is doing so in February, April and June, etc. As usual, we take July and August as our summer holidays. The background hymn is a version of "Immaculate Mary". Thank you.

A spiritual insight: As God gives abundant grace to the humble, there is so much grace coming from our humble and long kneeling, for example, during Confession and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, as well as before the Blessed Sacrament, the Crucifix, the Stations of the Cross and Our Heavenly Mother. Where there is no (little) pain, there is no (big) gain. Try it then and experience it for yourself, in particular when you feel you need a special grace from God.

A wonderful e-mail received: A dear gracious visitor whose initials are M.K. wrote on January 13, 2003: "I just love your website". Praise God!
